The 2012 Olympic closing ceremony will be themed a “Symphony of British Music” featuring famous British artists from over the years.
Both well-known and new artists will be performing a mix of iconic British songs. The London Symphony Orchestra will provide musical backing for the music of the late Edward Elgar. David Arnold, the music director, said the range of artists that will be heard “go from Elgar to Adele.” The names of the rest of the musicians won’t be released just quite yet.
The Olympic closing ceremony is already being called “the biggest after-show party — the show being the sport.” The show will also include 3,500 volunteer performers and hundreds of local schoolchildren. It is also promised that there will be a “very colorful visual spectacular, one that will make you feel great walking home.” All of the final prep for this epic closing ceremony will be done in the seventeen hours left between the last sporting event and the first moments of the closing ceremony. It’s sure to be a night you won’t want to miss!
