1.The Art & Chocolate Tour from Art Studio Trek 

South Placer County communities of Roseville, Rocklin and Granite Bay. 

April 28 to May 29, 2012

Times: 10am-5pm

The Art Studio Trek artists Celebrate the 6th Annual “ART & CHOCOLATE” Art Studio Trek in the South Placer County communities of Roseville, Rocklin and Granite Bay. Visit Saturday & Sunday, April 28 & May 29, 10am-5pm.  Attendance is FREE & open to the public. Enjoy the combined efforts of 19 artists at 13 studio locations. Celebrate this free weekend event and share in the artists’ personal creative endeavors. There will be a vast array of talent, art and inviting studio locations INCLUDING DEMOS! Guests visiting 10 different locations even have an opportunity to become eligible to win original art. To be eligible for the drawing, attendees must sign-in and collect individual artist locale stamps on their “Passport Map” from a minimum of 10 locations.  They simply submit their stamped map entry to the final studio they visit. Art Studio Trek website: www.artstudiotrek.com where samples & information about the participating Artists artwork can also be viewed.


2. A Night at the State Library presents: “Bullitt” (1968) starring Steve McQueen

On Wednesday, May 16, A Night at the State Library presents: “Bullitt,” the 1968 film starring Steve McQueen. Help celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge by attending this special event. This free evening program includes light refreshments and a post-film discussion led by Tom Sawyer, retired sheriff and former public safety liaison for the Governor’s Office. The discussion will feature historic photos and archival material from the State Library’s collection on San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge


3. 2nd Annual Mikuni Japanese Street Festival

Celebrate 25 years with Mikuni at their 2nd Annual Mikuni Japanese Street Festival. Join Mikuni for complimentary entertainment for the entire family including: Sacramento Taiko Dan, Kovar’s Satori Academy of Martial Arts, Sacramento Kendo Club, live music, kids’ activities and games. The 25th Anniversary Mikuni Honda Fit winner will be selected during the Street Festival.


4. Downtown Certified Farmers’ Market

Downtown Certified Farmers’ Markets offer shoppers the finest fruits, vegetables, baked goods, flowers, herbs, and cheeses. The markets offer patrons a chance to come face to face with their food source. The Farmers’ Markets are a wonderful break from the ordinary grocery store. They offer the freshest California grown seasonal favorites from asparagus in the spring to apples in the fall.

This event is produced by the Downtown Sacramento Partnership in cooperation with Certified Farmers’ Markets. Free entry for the event, plus cost of purchases.


5. TheatreFest 2012

The Natomas Charter School’s Drama Department is proud to introduce its latest work: TheatreFest 2012. TheatreFest 2012 is an all-day, student-produced theatre festival featuring the work of Natomas Charter School’s talented acting and directing students. There will be 17 short productions, each piece no more than 15 minutes long, broken into four distinct acts. Come for one act, or come for all four! Enjoy tales of love, loss, regret, hardship, and murder!


6. The Second Community Safety Day

Join the Roseville Police and Fire Departments and community partners at the second Community Safety Day from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 19 at Westfield Galleria! Watch police motorcycle officers from throughout the region test their skills in the Law Enforcement Motor Challenge. Watch your kids test their firefighting potential in the Fire Kids Combat Challenge!  They’ll lay fire hose, scramble up an inflatable slide and drag a dummy under the expert supervision of Roseville firefighters. Watch the smart and handsome police K9s (and their handlers) show their stuff. Your kids can test their fitness in the Roseville Police Activities League’s Crossfit Kids Circuit under the supervision of our Crossfit trainers.  Find out more about this challeging fitness course being offered every week at the RPAL gym

8.  Operation Kidsafe FREE Child Safety Event

May 19 to 20, 2012

Day 1 (May 19th) Future Ford Lincoln of Roseville, 650 Automall Dr, Roseville, CA 95661 

Times: 10am – 4pm

Day 2 (May 20th) Future Nissan of Roseville, 600 Automall Dr, Roseville, CA 95661

Times: 11am – 5pm

Operation KidSafe captures your child’s picture and fingerprints using a digital video capture device, digital ink-less fingerprint capture device and specialized software. The captured data is assembled and a quality 8 1/2 x 11″ printout is given to the parent. The parent can use the printout they receive to provide to law enforcement anywhere in the world to instantly aid in an investigation.
NOTE: No database or records of children are maintained. The only record of the visit will go home with the parent for safekeeping.
